Pawn Shop Origins

Three golden balls have been used as the trade symbol of pawn brokers forever. The origin of this sign is traced back to the Lombardy family in England.

Today, the golden balls are still a part of the coat of arms of the Medici family which is one of the oldest and greatest moneylenders from Florence, Italy.

This signage was found behind an abandoned pawn shop in North Texas.
